Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Ann M. Much like Jack Russell Terriers.

But today, we’re not only using this set for the first time, we’re getting some pre-practice time with our new Stampin’ Up! alcohol markers they’re calling Stampin’ Blends.

Wine Birthday CardThese Stampin’ Blends have improved caps so that they stay tight and won’t evaporate.

Ann says it’s a science thing.  Alcohol evaporates fast so that means the markers will blend easily and dry fast.  But if you leave the cap off, the marker will dry out fast too.  So put the caps back on!

She said she liked using them on Shimmery White card stock better than the Whisper White that we used here.  They seemed to blend better on the Shimmery White card stock, but I like the way they turned out here as well.

I must bark that these markers make almost anyone look like a watercolor artist.

Wine Birthday Card

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink is the best ink to use.  It will work well with any alcohol based marker.  (The regular Stampin’ Write Markers are dye based.)  We used a regular Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to color in the black line around the edge.

So these Stampin’ Blends which will be released soon.  We don’t know exactly when, but soon.

Today is the last day that Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators can pre-order the Stampin’ Blends.  Yep.  Demonstrators have it really good.  They can usually get stamps and stuff before the general public does.  Yep.  Love that.

In fact, you can include a set of these AND the Color Lifter as part of your Starter Kit when you join TODAY.  Otherwise you have to wait until they’re ready to release them.

And they ARE very cool!

But if you only want the stamp set, just scroll down for the supplies shopping list.  We used the Lots of Labels Framelits that don’t really match the stamp set, but we liked the way we could make it work.

And isn’t that what crafting is all about?  Mixing and matching things that don’t always go together?

So what do you think we all agreed on?  Matching tags/notecards?  Or assorted square notecards with matching envelopes.

So…assorted square notecards won out!  And here’s the first one that I shared with our 24/7 Stampers in an unplanned Facebook Live.

Little Square NotecardIt’s hard to believe that we stamped that with Pumpkin Pie and Real Red.  It sure does make the Real Red look almost like Cajun Craze.

Remember to stamp the envelope – just because you can – and you should.

Little Square NotecardWell, it’s Sunday and we’re happy to report that as of last night, the nearet fire to us is 87% contained.  It’s supposed to be windy today so we hope that they’re able to keep their progress or maybe even finish!

Speaking of finishing…  I guess I’d better share the list of our supplies….just in case you’d like to make some of these.  They’d even be nice for Pastors Appreciation Month!

Just click on any picture for more details or to start your shopping cart.  We’ll be glad to send you a reusable handmade card in your mailbox and 4 different cardmaking project tutorials in your inbox when you shop with us.  We’ll throw in a sample of current product when you use the current shopping code which we always post towards the top of the right hand column.

And don’t forget the thin border of Basic Black and using Archival Black ink. It really does make a difference!

First, let me share today’s project – some quick and easy gift packaging.  (But hold on for the question!)

Quilted Top Box

Isn’t that quick and easy?  You could add something to it, but why would you?

It’s perfect for a small gift.  Could be an expensive gift.  could be a handmade gift (PRICELESS!).   Could be some candy.  Or dog treats!

Our friend Marci could send us a bit of her special candy that she sends Ann every year.   She doesn’t share it with me.  I think it’s called marzipan.

But what if you were going to make some little cards to put inside?  You know.  Ones that you made.

And if you like more ideas for Christmas Cards, gifts and packaging, be sure you’re on our 12 Weeks of Christmas in Your Inbox list here so that you can get the next 10 weeks of Christmas ideas in your inbox.

But here’s the question…

It’s obvious that the gift is to be given in December.  You see that, don’t you?

But it might not be appropriate to give them a card that matches the outside of the package.  We usually do that.  Everything is color coordinated just like we like it.  And just like I think you like it too.

But if you’re giving this at Christmas, you wouldn’t want the inside cards to MATCH the outside because then they wouldn’t be able to use them until Christmas 2018!

SO….

What kinds of cards would you put in there?  They’re 3-1/8″ square so that they go into the coordinating envelopes that go inside the pizza box.

Perhaps tomorrow, I’ll decide so that you can see.  In the meantime, inquiring dogs must know!

Quick Project Tip

  • We used SNAIL to attach the card stock together but felt that Fast Fuse held the card stock directly to the box.
  • And remember not to press Fast Fuse as hard as you press SNAIL when you use it.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Project Supplies

This month’s online shoppers are going to love the card we’re going to send  and those of you who use the posted hostess shopping code will also get a small sample of current product.  That’s always fun to look forward to!  (You can pick up the hostess shopping code here or towards the top of the right hand column here on this page.)

We just loved the Thinking of You card idea that we shared the other day using Christmas colors.  But when we wanted to share it with our local stamp club members, we didn’t have enough of the Designer Series Paper on hand to go around.

That’s when my quick Jack Russell thinking leapt into action!

We discovered another DSP that was on sale and used  the same layout and stamps so that everyone could make one.  (You can peruse the Designer Series Paper Sale items here.)

Thinking of You Card Idea

I found that there were two interesting things that happened:

  1. Some people preferred the original card we shared in this post.  Some preferred this one.
  2. When given a choice between the gold or silver foil snowflake, most chose the gold one.

I’ll admit that decision took us a while to make that choice.  Which one would YOU pick?

Do you think the 1″ circle with the greeting would’ve looked nicer in Soft Sky?  That just dawned on Ann when she was taking the pictures for you.

Thinking of You Card IdeaDid you know that we have a couple spots that have come available for stampers to join our online stamp club?  We call it the Stampin’ Pup Club.   It’s a great way to keep your stamping supplies topped up AND get free stamps and accessories!

Pup Club Members get all this!

  • At least 4 free project tutorials in their inbox each month.
  • A reusable handmade card in their mailbox.
  • Exclusive specials just for them.
  • Optional discounted membership in the Master Stamper (access to over 200 exclusive videos and projects & private Facebook group.
  • Free stamps and accessories at least twice a year.

All members have to do is to make a monthly online purchase of at least $25.  Members can also use those purchases to earn Stampin’ Bucks they can cash in on even MORE free product.

Interested?  Join us today!  Just drop Ann a line and she’ll get you started!  We’d love to have you join us!

Card Making Supplies

And in case you were wondering, this is what we used to make the card.  Just so you know…. all our online shoppers get a sampling of current product when they use our Host Shopping Code in their shopping cart.  (It’s always posted towards the top of the right column here on my blog.)  But if you’re shopping for at least $150 before tax and shipping, don’t use the code!  We’ll still send you the little gift and a reusable handmade card to boot!

That’s okay.  Ann told me that there was chocolate inside.  As you probably know, chocolate is like kryptonite to dogs.  Ann says that I can’t even even have a taste.

I snuck a chocolate chip once when I was a pup.  It scared Ann to death!

So Cindy gave mine to my favorite huMAN.  That way her work wouldn’t go to waste.  He LOVED it!  (He normally hides in the bedroom and watches TV when the stamps and ink come out.  Or in the daytime, it’s usually the garden that calls him.)

Halloween Candy House

Wasn’t that nice of Cindy to make those for everyone?  She really loves the Home Sweet Home Thinlets Dies and uses them a lot.  They even talked about how much she uses her Big Shot.  Ann and I do too.

Cindy’s the type that you’d love to have in your office.  She brings everyone in her office a little gift every holiday.  Can you imagine how nice it would be to come to work to find a little house of candy as a surprise?

Maybe she’ll come and work for me one day!

While we’re sharing Big Shot stuff, let me share some organization things that Ann does to help keep her Big Shot Framelits and Thinlets.  She bought this holder at our local Target.  They have lots of little storage containers.  You may want to bring a set of framelits or thinlets with you to be sure the size is right.

Big Shot Die Holder

See the clothespin?  It’s a quick place to hang a die before it gets lost.  It only stays there until she puts them away.  (There usually aren’t THAT many on there!

Since then, we’ve put a small magnet cut from the sheets I’m about to show you.

You know, it would seem such a waste to not use the envelopes that Stampin’ Up! gives you with your dies so we use them to store the dies.  The magnets just enhance what’s already been given to us.

Big Shot Magnets

They’re 4″ x 6″.  They’re just the right height and you really don’t need them to go all the way to the edge.  They’re strong and you can have some hanging off and they won’t get thrown around.

Do you know how we know?  We tested some!  And these magnets are just the right ones.  Strong, but not too strong.  The other ones we tested were not strong enough.  If you shook them just a little, they’d fall off.

And they’re not expensive!

Sometimes Ann will cut them to apply them differently on a large die envelope.  We usually use the cardboard that’s inside.  Nothing to throw away!  But if it gets too crinkly, we cut a piece of the cardboard they use with the Designer Series Papers.  If we don’t have any of that cardboard, then a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock.

You get the picture.

Big Shot Magnets

I’ll bet you n0ticed that we write the number of how many dies are inside on the top right of the envelope.  Counting them before we put them away helps us keep track of those little metal things!

They’re not down the street, but they aren’t far from here.  And many of our 24/7 Stampers team have been affected by weather lately.

First, it was my gal pal Noelia and her 7 stampers in Puerto Rico.  They’re STILL without power!  Now it’s Nita and Lynne who live so close to the fires that they could toast marshmallows!

So today’s card is dedicated to those who have lost so much after being called out in the middle of the night.

Thinking of You Card Idea

It’s not your typical card. Did you notice the Black Rhinestones we used?  Trendy!

Thinking of You Card Idea

It looks a little Christmasy to me.  Perhaps that’s from Ann using the Christmas Around the World Designer Series Paper that’s on sale right now.  (Buy 3 and Get 1 Free from this collection.)

And we’re thinking of you too!  Because today’s the last day that you can save 15% of several stamp sets!

Now, we could show them all here.  Instead, I’m going to show you the ones that are the best deal because if you want to buy them as a bundle with either a matching punch or a set of coordinating framelits, that’s the best way for you to get them.

World Cardmaking Day Sale

Yes, use the code 3AJYPEHD when you shop in our online store.  I just can’t wait to send you our gift we give to our special shoppers who use the code when they shop.

So to help you get the most stamp for your dollar, here are the ones we made sure to get before the price goes up tonight.  (Including the Lots of Love stamp set that we used on today’s card.)  You can still get any of all of them.  I*, just staring my stamping and shopping strategy.

Well, it’s a nice card, but…. after we saw the cake, we realized we’d made the wrong card! You see, the man it was for is from Maine and there was a huge lighthouse on his cake!

I believe that THIS was the card we should’ve made!

Masculine Birthday CardYes, the other card is nice, but this card is more personal. It’s more like the recipient.

And that’s just one more thing I like about making our own cards. You can make them in your friend’s favorite color or favorite theme.

I mean, isn’t that something YOU like about making your own cards?

But we DID use the same greeting set because it’s just a good set that’s a good value.

Remember when you’re ready to shop in our online store, you get all this!

  • Reusable handmade card
  • 4 project tutorials in your inbox

Use our posted hostess shopping code* (we posted a new one just today! 3AJYPEHD) and we’ll add a sampling of current product inside your handmade card.

*If your order is $150+, please don’t use the code. We’ll still send you all the perks.

MAKE GREETING CARDS!

I have a challenge for you, but first…. here’s a masculine card that I designed for Ann to make for a semi-surprise 80th birthday party.

Masculine Birthday CardCan you believe that we used Christmas themed Designer Series Paper?  Yep.

We even stamped the inside, but nothing fancy.  It was just good to have a coordinating stamp in the set that had everything we needed to make this card.  In fact, we had a couple choices to mix and match.

Masculine Birthday Card

I didn’t like the Old Olive, Basic Black and Whisper White color combination for Christmas when Ann first shared it with me, but it’s growing one me.  And I think that it’s perfect for this masculine birthday card idea too.

Masculine Birthday Card

While we’ve got TWO sales going on today, the stamps and DSP that we used aren’t part of it.  But there are things that we’ll be shopping for today!  Just scroll down to see it all!  But first, here are the main supplies of this project.  If you’re in the shopping mood, pleases be sure to use the current shopping code so we can include a small gift inside the reusable cards we send all our online shoppers.  Today, it’s U9YSNQZH but the current code is always posted towards the top of the right side column of this blog.

ABOUT THAT CARD CHALLENGE

This may surprise you, but I want you to go find a stamp that you have that you haven’t used yet.  We all have one.  (at least in my canine imagination.)  If you don’t have one, just use one that you haven’t used in a long while.  Then MAKE A CARD WITH IT!
And maybe even mail it!
That’s what we did today today and yesterday.  We used stamp sets from our stash that had never seen ink before.  They look much happier now!

I don’t know why I don’t share as many birthday card ideas as I do thank you card ideas.  Everyone has birthdays!  I guess I’m just a thankful dog.

Ann is going to a birthday party soon for a nice gentleman who is 80 years young.  This card is not for him – or should it be?

What do you think?  (We do have over 400 birthday card ideas here.)

Fall Birthday Card

It’s okay to have a bit of bling on a masculine card as long as it’s not too bling-y.

There are two things cool about this card I’d like you to notice:

  • The Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper is one of the featured DSP’s on sale.  When you buy 3, you can get 1 free.  (Just scroll down to see what DSP packs are available.
  • The Better Together stamp set is a set that has coordinating greetings for different holidays/events so we’re sharing what we did inside as well.

Fall Birthday Card

Even though we used the same card base color as yesterday’s card, the card looks totally different.  They both have DSP and Cajun Craze with a shape, but they look totally different.

But isn’t it nice that we can get everything coordinating?  I love that!

Card Making Tips

  • The leaf is stamped in Tangerine Tango onto Very Vanilla with the detail stamped over it in Chocolate Chip.
  • The strip across the bottom is just 1/2″ left over when we trimmed the 6″ down to 5-1/2″
  • You can only Buy 3 and Get 1 Free from the list of DSP’s and DSP Packs that are listed farther down in this post.

Fall Birthday CardNow, if you were wanting to stock up on Fast Fuse while it was on sale for the World Cardmaking Day Sale until October 10th.  The sale was so popular that Stampin’ Up! sold a few years worth of Fast Fuse in just 4 days!

They had to close it down because they couldn’t get more until December!

Not to worry!  They’ll bring the sale back for another 5 days later when they are REALLY stocked up!
