Thursday was the hottest day so far this year.  We ended up at 108°!

That’s one degree hotter than when Ann brought my predecessor here from England.  He was used to 75° summers and didn’t want to come out of the hotel room when they needed to go look for a house to live in.

So this is what the guy in the brown shorts dropped off.

Stampin' Up! Stamps

You might think that Ann gets all this free from Stampin’ Up!.  Nope.  We do get quite a few free stamps, but they’re not all free.

So, we have to budget a little so that we can have lots of visits from the guy in the brown shorts instead of him coming once and having to back his whole truck up to the house.

Since we were working on a super special project for our friends on our mailing list – (you’re on it, right?) – we had to come up with a quick and easy card.  And this one should make your friend feel VERY special – and it only takes a few minutes!

Quick and Easy Thank You Card

It only took a pack of Whisper White notecards and matching envelopes.  They’re just 5″ x 3-1/2″ so they’re just big enough for a meaningful thought.  (And now we have them in Very Vanilla too!)

Then we got out our Big Shot and the new Ruffled Dynamic Embossing Folder with some Powder Pink cardstock.

Isn’t it awesome?  Doesn’t it look like a ruffly skirt or slip or even drapes?

Then we stamped the greeting in Early Espresso and used the Ticket Tear Border Punch on either end of a 1″ x 3-1/4″ piece of Whisper White.

We LOVE collecting different greetings sets so we always have a choice.  In this case, the Just Add Text stamp set is perfect!  And we could’ve used any of the greetings and still had a wonderful card.

Just Add Text

Just Add Text / Wood #143931 / Clear #143934

Notice the little Glitter Enamel DotStampin’ Up! has never made anything like that and they are awesome!  If the ruffles weren’t enough to impress you, then adding a little bling has GOT to impress!

Ruffled Thank You Card Idea

But that’s it!  Some Liquid Glue and a few Stampin’ Dimensionals, a stamp, a punch and you are done!

That punch almost looks like a designer label!

Now if you’re ready for a visit from the UPS guy in shorts at YOUR house, we’d love to welcome you to shop in our online store.

Remember to use our current shopping code 2JF4R9KW when you’re shopping so that we can include a surprise sampling of one of the current Stampin’ Up! accessories in the reusable card that we send all our online shoppers.  Don’t use the code if your order is $150+ so you can enjoy Stampin’ Rewards. We’ll be happy to send you the gift and reusable card.

Ann sent out an email as soon as we could to our mailing list readers so late last night, I came up with a card with three things that are back in stock.

Thank You Coffee Card

It’s hard to see the Copper Trim in the picture because it’s layered onto Chocolate Chip cardstock. But what I hope you can see is that it’s narrow and then you can fan it out like we did here. It’s like nothing we’ve ever seen before!

Thank You Coffee Card

Isn’t that amazing?

Of course, it’s easy to see the Daisy Punch. Did you notice that for the front flower, we stamped the image in Chocolate Chip onto Whisper White and then colored it in with a So Saffron marker. For the back flower, we stamped the image in Chocolate Chip onto So Saffron cardstock.

Usually we wouldn’t do different versions of the same flower like that, but I think they look fine, don’t you?

Here’s a close up of the Gold Faceted Gems. LOVE THEM! Can’t wait to have a nibble.

Thank You Coffee Card

That’s closer than you’d ever look at them in real life.

I hope they don’t run out anytime soon!

So here’s a list of everything we used to make this thank you card. Remember to use our current shopping code 2JF4R9KW when you’re visiting our online store so that we can include a surprise sampling of one of the current Stampin’ Up! accessories in the reusable card that we send all our online shoppers. Everyone was so nice!

They had a different seating arrangement.  Usually when they get together, they sit around in couples, but this time they had a boys table and a girls table.

They were going to go outside, but it was 108 degrees here last I checked!  So instead, they shut the drapes and left the sunshine outside.  (They did open the door to let me out when I asked.)

But I digress….

Anyone there would be a good recipient for this card – and maybe we should do that – but after it was all said and done and everyone left, it made Ann wanted to color!

And we thought that you might have missed seeing this Swan Lake stamp set in the Occasions catalog.

Caring Card Idea

Originally, Ann started to watercolor this card, but I think she did fine with these markers:

But – insert secret here – Ann used the ink refills and the Aqua Painter for the water and the swan’s shadow.  You don’t mind, do you?  Here are the reinker colors that she put in the lid of her ink pads and then picked up with her Aqua Painter to color with:

And don’t you think that those new Glitter Enamel Dots just set this off?

Caring Card Idea

I think she’s going to feel awesome – and that’s the idea we were going for.

I do know that we hadn’t used either of the two ribbons on a card before we made this one.  It sure was awesome getting ready to pick from so many.  And the mini sequins are WAY better than their full sized counterpart that we used to carry.

Well, today’s card could be for them or it could be for anyone who has done a good job.

They don’t have to like music, but someone who does like music will appreciate this easy to make card even more.

We originally made this card with the Sheet Music background stamp.  We made it very simple.

Ann and I agreed that the new Navy Gingham would just be a little too busy, so we tried the Stitched Satin Ribbon in Basic Gray.

Music Card

As always, you can click on any of our pictures for a larger view.

Do you like it plain like this?  Or do you prefer the slightly stepped up version using the Glitter Enamel Dots.  They come in multiple hues of these colors:

  • Dapper Denim
  • Crushed Curry
  • Berry Burst
  • Old Olive

Even though we used Night of Navy on this card, the lightest hues of Dapper Denim play just fine.

But I’m going to warn you.  If you’re loving that new Pretty Label punch, you need to get in line.  It will be back in stock by July 10th.  That’s just around the corner so if you like it, ORDER IT NOW before they run out again!

The Label Me Pretty Bundle was a big hit with our local stamp club.  It was the most popular item of the night!

Music Card

So which do you prefer?  Bling or no bling?  We used them on yesterday’s card as well.

Those Glitter Enamel Dots were so popular that they sold out at the very beginning of this new Stampin’ Up! catalog that was released early this month.  But you can get them now.

Did you know that when you shop in our online store, we send you 4 weekly projects in your in box?  Yep!  It’s the perfect thing to save you time in your cardmaking.

We’ve changed our shopping code this morning.  The new one is 2JF4R9KW.  It’s a great thing to use when you’re visiting our our online store so that we can include a surprise sampling of one of the current Stampin’ Up! accessories in the reusable card that we send all our online shoppers. We don’t want it to make him sadder, but we also don’t want it too bright.

One thing I like about handmade cards is that you can stamp a greeting inside or write something personal on the inside or do both.

We’re giving this one some personal thought for the inside.  Ann and my favorite huMAN don’t get to see this man and his wife much so it pretty well demands a personal  note inside.

Sympathy Card IdeaDo you notice the two new accessories that we used?

And then there’s that new Layered Leave Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder.  Doesn’t it look awesome?

Besides the So Sorry for Everything stamp set, we used the Blooms & Wishes stamp set that has many options for flowers of different sizes.

Sympathy Card Idea

But do you notice the little glitch?  Honestly, it’s more obvious in the picture than it is in real life.

Should I tell you now or let you guess?

We’re sticklers for color because in our world, color is king!  So here it is!

> The card base is Soft Sky, but when Ann reached to stamp the flowers, she accidentally grabbed Pool Party. <

If it looked in real life the way it looks on the screen, we’d most likely do it over.  But when she holds it, it looks like the same color.

Whew!

Is something like that important to you?

If you’re looking for Sympathy Card Ideas, we have over 35 Sympathy Card Ideas here.

You know, we really like the Sorry for Everything set because it’s good for more than just sympathy cards.  It’s great for those little mistakes that you want to repair.  It’s got greetings for all types of little oopsies that can derail a relationship rather than make things worse.

So rather than a Fathers Day card, here’s one to make you feel better if you forgot.  (But if you ARE on the hunt for a quick Father’s Day card, you can see a couple dozen of my Father’s Day Card Ideas here.)

Coffee Card of EncouragementIf you’re making this to help someone else feel better, why not put a gift card in it?  Or better yet, donate some face time and TAKE them to share a cup of coffee!

Yes, in person is the best, don’t you think?

This card could be used for a couple different things.  We have a simpler version of it that we’re going to use as a get well card.

Coffee Card IdeaI don’t know about simpler, but it’s going to a guy so we did it without the doily and Soft Suede circle.

You know – it’s the one you make before you realize that a little accessories action could improve it.

Just close your eyes and imagine it without the doily and the solid Soft Suede cardstock circle.  It’s still a great card.

But I think I like it with the Soft Suede circle whether you use the doily or not.

Since it IS Dad’s Day and my middle name is named after Ann’s dad, how would you like to see one of Ann’s favorite pictures of him?

She tells me that her dad was always happiest when he was on a boat.  And this is how she likes to think of him.

So if your dad is around, go give him a hug.  And if he doesn’t live nearby, be sure to call him today.  In fact, you can REALLY surprise him and call him twice!

And if he’s even farther away than that, just think of him in a way that brings a smile to your face.

Yep.  That’s what I’m barking about!

Last weekend, Ann went to a shoebox swap without me.  But yesterday she and my favorite huMAN took me with them or an hour”s drive to get a n oil change.

We met LOTS of nice people including a nice fellow card maker, Lynn.  It was as if all of them showed up just to meet me!

Do you think that I should have charged them for the privilege of petting me?

Moment of Truth

It’s time for this dog to share a moment of truth with you.  Ann was typing this for me in the wee, wee hours.

I came out to check on her and she was ASLEEP in the middle of typing this!  I’m having to type with the hunt, nose & peck technique she taught me to use in the case of emergency.

Dogs at WorkPlease forgive me for this being brief.  I even had to jump up on a chair to take the pictures!

You see, I DO pay attention!  Many times I’m in the chair right beside her as she types my thoughts.

Here’s one of the cards she got at the swap last weekend that she especially liked.

Birthday Card with Pink Tulips

The flowers in the vase was a project she won while she was there.  The Daisy Punch is going to be available within the next 10 days so be sure to get it before they run out again!

You can get this stamp set free with a $150 order whether you order by yourself or get your friends to do an order with you.

And even better, you’ll get an extra $35 when you order at least $350!  That means you’ll get at least $77 of your choice of stamps and accessories FREE!

That deserves a closer look!

Birthday Card with Pink Tulips

She even used the new Layered Leaves Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder!  It’s enough to make me bark out loud!

But I better not wake Ann up!  She needs her beauty sleep.

I hope you’re in the mood for shopping today.  That way, Ann will know I did a good job.

We finished up packing and counting our Sweet Treats yesterday.  Most have gone out, but Ann worked on some of those and mailing the stamps from our Rubber Stamp Garage Sale.

Mailing Day

How do you like those bags Ann bought me so that you know immediately that your mailbox has a treat in it from me?

NOTE TO SELF:  Don’t start selling your retired stamps at the same time you’re doing a Sweet Treat Product share.  It got a little wild here over the past 7 days.

And to top it off, one of our friends got a Label and Postage machine.  Ann, being the gadget girl that she is, just HAD to go and get one.

And that was another adventure!

  • We installed the software.  It didn’t work.
  • They sent us a FULL PAGE of instructions on how to take the software off and reinstall it a different way.
  • Yep.  We did that and it still didn’t work.
  • Finally, they did it remotely for us and it worked like a charm.

Now that it’s working, this puppy is going to make it so that we can get things mailed to you so much faster!

Just give Ann a new gadget and it just rejuvenates her!

We just added another 9 new stamp sets to the Rubber Stamp Garage Sale.  We’ve got more now that we’re getting the Sweet Treats out of the way.

It’s never a dull moment around here.

You really didn’t think it would be in a Jack Russell house, now would you?

Ann likes to ask everyone which card they liked best.  I think it was pretty close call.

Some people liked the coffee card I shared with you the other day.  But it was pretty much a tie between the Flamingo card and this one.

Z Fold Card

It’s called a Z-Fold card.  (But we added a little ribbon on the side to tighten up the Z.

Z Fold Card

After everyone went home, we even decorated the inside.  We had everyone put the two layers of cardstock on the inside but I think Ann forgot to bring out the extra greeting for the inside of the card.

That’s fine.  It’s really what we like to call a Mother-in-Law card because it doesn’t have a lot of room inside to write.

Z Fold Card

Z-Fold cards are not hard to make with our trimmer.  Just fold the card base in half like usual.  Then fold back the front so that it becomes a Z.

The Color Theory Suite is so popular!  Here’s what we used to make this card.

And remember, you can save 10% when you bundle the Colorful Seasons stamp set and the Seasonal Layers Thinlits.

We can’t wait to send her a card made with this Flirty Flamingo set!

Flamingo Congratulations Card

There are several ways you could stamp the flamingo, but here’s how we did it.

Cardmaking Tips

  • Stamp the flamingo stamp that has the body and the legs first.  Use Flirty Flamingo ink.
  • Stamp the solid body next using the new Powder Pink ink pad.
  • Stamp the outline for the body and the legs using Smoky Slate, but Ann stamped off first rather than use it full strength.
  • The grass and foliage is stamped in the new Tranquil Tide.

Flamingo Congratulations Card

Ann used to LOVE 2 step stamping like this.  She said it felt good to get back into it again and thanked me for my card design.

Yes, we roll like that.

And here’s what we used so that you can make a cool card of your own.  You can make it like this or put your own little bit of style on it.  At least you have an idea where to start.  (This color combo wasn’t the first.)
